This study is being conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of Emotional Transformation Therapy (ETT) for reducing the negative impacts of auditory trauma and auditory intrusions. Auditory trauma is a condition that can be caused by exposure to loud noises, such as explosions, gunshots, or car crashes. It can also be caused by auditory intrusions such as verbal insults, name calling, and verbal threats. It can cause a variety of symptoms, including but not limited to hearing loss, tinnitus, hyperacusis, and anxiety.
To qualify a person must:
Participants will receive: one-time 30-minute session with Kristine Miller, MA, LMFT, an ETT certified trauma therapist to include auditory trauma protocol and immediate post test. Follow up testing at month 1 and month 3 required. Cost is $60.
Benefit: You may benefit from the therapy session and the questionnaires. The therapy session may help reduce your symptoms of auditory trauma/auditory intrusions and improve your mental and emotional health. The questionnaires may help the researchers better understand the effects of auditory trauma/auditory intrusions and the effectiveness of ETT. The questionnaires may also help you better understand the impact of the trauma/intrusions on you and your life.
