Journey Clinical is a platform for licensed psychotherapists to incorporate science-based psychedelic therapies in their practice safely and effectively, starting with KetamineAssisted Psychotherapy (KAP). Journey Clinical’s in-house medical team takes on patient eligibility, prescriptions and outcome monitoring, while I take on the therapy. Their collaborative care model is designed to deliver personalized treatment plans to meet your individual needs and improve long-term outcomes.
The effects of ketamine, which most patients find pleasant, last for approximately 45 minutes. These effects can make you feel “far from” your body, and facilitate shifts in perception that can often feel expansive in nature. Your motor and verbal abilities will be reduced, so you’ll be lying down in a comfortable position during the experience. Once these effects subside, we’ll spend the remainder of our appointment giving you space to process and discuss your experience. While it may feel hard to articulate what happens during the experience, patients feel like the insights gained are clear.
Ketamine is a legal, safe and effective medicine used to treat a variety of mental
health conditions, including depression, anxiety and PTSD. Ketamine has rapidlyacting antidepressant and mood-enhancing effects, which can begin to take effect
within 1-2 hrs. after treatment. It works by blocking the brain’s NMDA receptors as
well as by stimulating AMPA receptors, which are thought to help form new synaptic
connections and boost neural circuits that regulate stress and mood. Ketamine has
also been shown to enhance overall neuroplasticity for lasting symptom improvement.
Ketamine can be administered in a variety of ways, including IV infusion,
intramuscular injection, via nasal spray and using sublingual lozenges. In my work with
Journey Clinical we only use the sublingual lozenge form.
Ketamine is a safe, legal medicine used in mental health counseling. As a quick-working antidepressant and mood-enhancing drug, ketamine is helpful for administering therapeutic breakthroughs, especially among those experiencing treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, addiction, and PTSD.
My role as a therapist is to help you feel safe and supported in your ketamine experience, working to integrate the thoughts, emotions, and insights you develop on the journey.
I try to be transparent about cost and concerns around financial issues. Currently, my hourly rate for individuals is $110 and for couples is $125. Gottman Method Couples Counseling is based on a 90 minute session, which I strongly encourage, at $175. Trauma work - EMDR and ETT® - often flow best in a 90 minute environment and is $160.
Intensives are available and are priced here.
Please do not hesitate to have a conversation regarding finances with me.
I do not take insurance. Taking insurance requires a diagnosis to "justify" someone benefitting themselves. While a diagnosis can be helpful in some aspects, my focus is less on a label and more on the experience of the person. By not having connection to the medical model, I am free to journey with a person and not "treat a diagnosis".
The therapeutic relationship is THE most important aspect of any counseling. I want to know you and your story, your goals, and your dreams. Then together we begin to work.
Your therapy is just that - YOURS. I am down to earth, compassionate, and empathetic. Hard questions get asked when appropriate. I want to help you get where you want to be - even if you don't know exactly where that is at first.
I can't make any guarantees as there are so many factors and each person is unique with unique history and experiences. Together, we can find the mode of counseling that is right for you! Trusting the process is sometimes the most difficult, but the most necessary, part.
Every person is different and comes with different goals and challenges as well as different levels of readiness to change. I meet you where you are! For some, that may be short term and for others, it may take longer.
ETT® does not use medications and has, in some cases, created situations where some were able to stop medications. This should not be the expectation and stopping medications must only be done under the care of the prescribing physician.
ETT® can be used with persons who experience visual difficulties such as color blindness, and, in some particular cases, persons with partial or complete blindness.
ETT® is not magical cure all. For those who have experienced it, there is a short period of disorientation that can happen with the rapid nature of the resolution. Sometimes even disbelief at what they just experienced. For some, there is euphoria. As the brain rapidly integrates the changes, the person will notice and experience new and exciting changes in their lives.
Sessions are tailored to the specific needs of the couple. Couples learn and practice new tools to use in daily life that help them to deepen their friendship, create opportunity for open communication about tough topics, learn the art of compromise, and regain a sense of team. In the context of couples therapy, there is opportunity to heal past hurts, deepen understanding of each partners world, and even address trauma from the past.
Length of time is dependent on the couple and their stated goals for therapy, where each partner is in their relationship with self, their own needs for individual healing, and the presence of infidelity, betrayal, and/or addiction in the marriage. Gottman method begins with in depth intake and assessment (joint session, individual with each partner, Gottman questionnaires, and feedback session), treatment phase (length varies), phasing out (every two weeks then every month), conclusion of therapy, and follow up (6, 12, 18, and 24 months). There is a better estimation of length of therapy after intake and assessment.
Our pre-marital sessions are based on Gottman Method Couples Counseling and the Sound Relationship House. During sessions, couples learn and practice interventions and tools designed to increase friendship, fondness and admiration, problem-solving, effectively managing conflict and repairing after conflict, creating shared memories and we-ness, strengthening commitment and trust, and creating space to be able to share the deepest parts of who each person is in a safe and welcoming way.
Length of therapy is always a difficult question because it depends on many factors and the person in therapy and their goals for the work. Pre-Marital Counseling is often about 8 -12 weeks after intake and assessment depending on the needs of the relationship.
Intensive sessions are designed for individuals and couples who are in deepening crisis and need or want more than an hour a week with a counselor. Weeks, sometimes months, of counseling can happen in just a few intensive sessions which are longer, and more intense, than weekly sessions.
When working with trauma, intensive sessions can be very helpful to address an entire trauma using EMDR or ETT® in one setting. However, sessions such as these do require more intentional self care.
Couples intensives help to stop the hurts that continue to create difficulty in the relationship and begin the healing and rebuilding process.
