Kristine Miller MA, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist/Owner

Long before Eudaimonia Counseling and Wellness came into being or I had the formal education and licensure, I was helping others through many other roles in my life. Through experience in youth residential treatment, law enforcement, victim support and community mental health, I have come to understand that recognizing a person in their journey involves being considerate and empathetic to their situation, validating their experiences and recognizing them as a human, going through their share of human struggles.

My journey through trauma provided me with a deeper connection to the experience of the human condition and the struggle in which everyone finds themself. My very favorite quote comes from Dr. Brené Brown who says, "What we don't need in the midst of struggle is shame for being human." Addressing shame and vulnerability can be dauntingly courageous. Society tends to offer little leniency when it comes to matters such as error, differences, trauma, and the aftermath of decisions made by others. Despite this, we must show humanity to those who simply humanely respond to life. Brené Brown also says, "You are imperfect, you are wired for struggle, but you are worthy of love and belonging."

My mission is to bring hope and healing to individuals who have endured various types of trauma. Offering validation, empathy, and compassion to someone can be incredibly powerful. It is important to remember that trauma does not weaken our self-worth; it is simply an unavoidable part of the human experience. Through counseling, individuals can develop the strength and understanding they were lacking due to their age, experience, or resilience, as well as gain newfound insight, and have the chance to truly process the event.

I help my clients to cultivate a newfound positivity in their lives and gain a better understanding of their identity and the legacy of trauma that had become an unnecessary burden. By teaching them to distinguish between things in and out of their power, I support them in developing the authenticity and freedom to select the paths that empower them to identify and create the life they want to live.
